Building an emergency gift supply
How to get a stockpile of assorted emergency gifts for those times when you need one in a hurry and have no time to shop or get unexpected guests at holidays.
If you’ve ever needed a gift in a hurry you know how nerve wracking it can be to dash about looking for a gift at the last minute, and sometimes we don’t even have time for that. We often get unexpected guests at holidays, or folks who drop by with gifts in hand for you and you hadn’t bought a thing for them. Sometimes, we forget someone’s birthday and need a quick present immediately! It’s good to have an ‘emergency’ supply of gifts on hand for just these times, an emergency supply is convenient and you’ll never have to worry about being caught without a gift again.
While building your emergency supply, keep in mind that the gifts should be something rather generic that can be given to either a male or female and that it should be in an average price range, not too expensive, not too cheap! A good amount for an emergency gift is anywhere from fifteen to twenty dollars, though you can get more expensive items if you find them on sale. Include gifts that are specifically for children, generic male/female gifts are usually not appropriate for children, so pick up a few toys.
Some items that are good emergency gifts include, address books, liquor, candy, stationary, fancy letter openers, pen sets and the like. Don’t buy anything you wouldn’t mind having yourself because you might end up being stuck with it. Be sure to add different types of wrapping paper and cards to your supply so you have something to wrap the gift in when the time arises. Some good wrapping papers that fit all occasions are those that are metallic, solid colors or brown paper with colored ribbons. Throw in a roll of tape and a pair of small scissors so that when you are holed up in the bedroom and your guest is out in the living room, you won’t have to tear around the house looking for what you need to wrap!
