Creative ways to wrap gifts
Alternatives to wrapping gifts in paper and creative and unusal ways to wrap and decorate gifts for any occasion.
Wrapping up gifts can sometimes be even harder than getting the gift itself! Finding the right box, or gift-wrap and decorating it to look just right is not always easy. There are many different things you can do and ways you can wrap your gifts to make them look extra special. Using alternatives to the usual gift paper or box for your presents is a great idea. Think of unusual things you can wrap and decorate your gifts in. Your options are endless!
Kitchen foil is something different you could wrap a gift in. It sounds peculiar but it actually has a great effect. You can either wrap the gift straight in the foil, or you can scrunch the foil up to create an interesting effect and then wrap the gift. This looks great for Christmas gift when you add some green, red, or gold ribbon. Alternatively you can decorate your foiled covered gift in ribbons or bows to suit the occasion.
Another great alternative to paper, is fabric. You can wrap the gift the same as you would with paper and secure it with ribbon. The fabric that you use can perhaps be used by the receiver for something else later, which makes fabric great for wrapping up gifts for someone who is creative or enjoys sewing.
Sometimes you can even make your wrapping part of the actual gift itself. For instance you could wrap your gift up in a scarf or tea towel, or if it is a large gift a rug or a blanket. Scarves are great for wrapping gifts. Center the gift in the middle of the scarf and pull the scarf together over it and tie in a bow or a creative kind of knot. This looks great and nothing more needs to be done! Using alternates to paper that can be recycled is a good idea, not only because they can look great but also because it is good for the environment.
There are many different creative things you can do to decorate your gift as well, whether they be wrapped in paper or some of the alternatives to paper. You can decorate your gifts in whatever you like. Try not to think along the conventional lines of ribbons and bows and try to think of different things or even things you have lying around. Flowers work well as decorations for gifts. You could use either fresh flowers or dried ones. Attach a few to the wrapped gift or even one just in the corner of the gift where you would attach a card. Other kinds of natural things you can use to decorate your gifts include things like leaves, bark, shells or really whatever you can find! You could try to relate what you decorate your gift with to the recipients tastes. For instance use their favorite flowers or leaves from their favorite tree etc.
Instead of ribbons on your gifts try alternatives like wool, cord, raffia or whatever you have around. String can even look great, especially if you are trying to create a natural look. You could simply just wrap it around the gift and tie it or you could make a centerpiece out of it and tie many bows or make some kind of shape.
Instead of buying gift-wrap, you can be creative and use other kinds of paper that you may have around home. Newspaper can look effective with the right decorations, or you could use old shopping bags or even clean candy wrappers! Just use your imagination and recycle and use what you have around, you will be surprised how good somethings can look.
